Digital technology
The introduction of computer technology in recent years has brought dramatic
changes to the publishing and printing industries. Authors are now able to supply
their manuscripts as digital files It is now possible to produce a book without
it ever existing in paper form (hard copy) until the final printing stage. This
has led to the adoption of print-on-demand systems, digital methods of printing,
enabling books to be economically printed in very small quantities. This, in turn,
opens the door to many new authors who can now get into print at little cost.
Hamwic Publishers has been quick to adopt this technology, although colour books
and those requiring very high quality may need to be produced using more traditional
methods.

still counts
However, good publishing is still reliant on people with a thorough knowledge
of the business, expertise in editing, design, marketing and sales,
and experience of working with a wide variety of books and subjects.
